MecAgent raises $3M to automate and optimize mechanical design with autonomous agents.

MecAgent raises $3 million to automate mechanical design with AI and drastically shorten product development cycles.

MecAgent raises $3M to reshape mechanical engineering workflows with its AI CAD Copilot

When each design iteration can cost hours of engineering work and slow down a product’s time-to-market, MecAgent aims to reinvent how mechanical engineers operate.

Leveraging autonomous agents, the startup is developing an intelligent assistant that automates repetitive tasks such as modeling, verification, and cost estimation throughout the design cycle.

At the core of the solution is a Specs-to-CAD technology, capable of converting textual descriptions or sketches into parametric 3D files. The goal: reduce friction between an idea and a manufacturing-ready file, and accelerate the transition from concept to prototype.

Key features of MecAgent include:

  • Parts Generation – Automatically transforms textual descriptions and context into usable 3D models

  • Smart File Search – Explore CAD databases using keywords or sketches

  • Compliance Verification – Detects errors based on industry standards

  • Real-Time Cost Estimation – Calculates costs dynamically based on geometry, materials, and processes

  • CAD Compatibility – Works with SolidWorks, CATIA, Inventor, Fusion 360, and Creo

Built to integrate seamlessly into existing engineering toolchains, MecAgent enables smoother collaboration between technical and business teams. It targets industrial companies, manufacturers, and hardware startups looking to shorten design cycles while improving output quality.

The company was founded by Owein Dourneau, Alexandre Senet, and Guillaume Debregeas. It has just raised €2.75 million ($3 million) in funding backed by Outlander VC, Founders, Inc., Earthling VC, Kima Ventures, Irregular Expressions, and angel investors Thomas Wolf and Arnaud Kooij.
